So there is someone in the blogging land that has pissed me off. A few weeks back they asked me to help them with their layout. I told them I was too busy at the time but if I get any free time I would be more than happy to help. This person just so happened to have the same picture as me. No big deal. But today while I was surfing the blogosphere they have the same exact layout as I do. No big deal. I didn’t make the layout, I got the code from elsewhere.

But then they also have the same exact color scheme. Now I am royally pissed. I hate how people can be so unoriginal sometimes. I am certain the took part of my CSS code.  I know they will come across this blog, and see this post. They’ve visited almost every day of last month, and obviously they liked my layout well enough to copy it.

But I shall let it go. I know there are some really big jerks out on the world-wide-web I just hate when I come across them.

In other news I am feeling slightly better than my last post…maybe not physically but emotionally I am.

  • So that's why your blog has a new look! let's see if they will be able to copy this one! i just pissed too when people copy my work.. good thing it hasn't happened to me yet though. LOL!

    i love the green theme. very soothing and cool to the eyes.

    I just had a new look for my blog too. Did a few tweaks and personalized the header to really make it my own.

  • Imitation is a form of flattery! I know this means nothing when something like this happens though. I am glad you posted this.

    I hope the person who did it can make the decision to do the right thing - just tweak it a bit, make the design your own, believe me once youve done it, youll like it even more coz itll have your own mark on it.

  • they say that imitation is the greatest form of flattery! So relax calm down. No one can quite do it the way that you do for there is only one in the whole of existence. So marvel not that you are imitated or followed but appreciate it.

  • argh!! I'm so sorry to hear that...i would be totally pissed off too if that happened to me. I got my layout from skincorner.com for free and i'm so glad that i got the owner's permission to let me change the colors and the header to make it more like me. I hope they change theirs soon coz it would be totally annoying. :(

  • I find it so surprising that someone would do that. Not that your layout isn't lovely, but there are so many options out there, you would have to have absolutely no imagination to copy someone else's design exactly.

  • I understand your frustration. It's not about the template but the whole idea of your blog. It's too bad this person didn't take the time to try and personalize it to her own style.

  • That stinks, but maybe it is meant to be flattering. I personally would ask the person why they did that. Why did they not just choose their own layout, widget, and style. If they start copying your post style, then I might have to get serious with them.

  • So far, I have had pretty good luck with not seeing my layout everywhere, and it does feel weird when you see someone using the same exact layout you are, so I can definately relate. I have seen the blue jean layout on like 20 blogs, I feel sorry for them,lol.

  • I found your blog via MckMama's (I think, who knows really) and I would totally be annoyed by that if I were you. Blogs are supposed to be individual, right? *sigh* not much to be done about it, but if it's any consolation, I think your template is really cute!

  • I would be annoyed too. I know they say that imitation is the biggest form of flattery, but really, they couldn't even choose different colors. Well, it does show that you have good taste. Too bad you couldn't mess with the code so that something bad happened when they loaded it.

  • that's like overkill man. I know mine template is a freebie too but at least I personalized it and actually got someone to do a personal header for me because I suck at graphics.
