She sounds like a drama queen to me and because she was not the center of attention started a pouty fest in my opinion to make it all about her no matter what the consequences.

Anyways glad you vented it out, doesn't it feel good. Anyways that person sound self-centered and childish.

I moved to Japan when I was 12 and lived there for 3 years. I learned quite a bit of Japanese, but since I haven't had much practice I'm not very good at speaking it anymore :(

I read the whole thing. I didn't want to, but it was like a train wreck. Seriously. That's ridiculous. I think facebook and other technology (yes, even blogs) are ruining people. Learn to speak! That's lame that she kept writing notes.

That is quite silly really. It sound like the women has some "issues" of the type a good psychiatrist might be able to help with. On the other hand when someone starts pulling racist crap it is time to make your feelings known and dissociate. It's inexcusable really.

Many people really don't know how to be team players and need to be the center of attention. I don't see that race should have been made a part of anything, but it did succeed in getting her the attention she apparently needs. Everyone needs to vent and where better than your blog?

oh i read...*waves hands* hehe and it's ok to vent, this is your home on the internet and you can do with it as you please.

That's sad how she chose the game over the whole team and the friendships that you guys built as a team. It doesn't matter if you win or lose but it's the relationship that you've build through time that matters. tsk tsk tsk. Sometimes all you wanna do is help but until she helps herself too the problems won't be solved.

Wow...sorry you had so much to deal with! It sounds like you and the rest of the team have been doing the right thing--and your friend needs to get herself sorted out a bit.

About venting here...you should feel free--it's your blog and sometimes we all need someplace safe to let off steam and find a sympathetic ear! Why not on your own blog? :0)

What a shame, maybe she does not actually know how a team works. Everyone works, and either wins or loses together. Obviously she never felt like she was part of the team. To get so sad over losing, is very sad. Unfortunately a lot of high achievers do exactly that. They simply can not handle losing. It is a shame that race, still today, is used in ignorant ways.

Drama queen much? I understand if it meant she would flunk out of college, but this certainly wasn't the end of the world - even if it was a less than hoped for outcome by all of you. (Top 8 is still awesome!) Geesh!

Whew!That was long but interesting,so I read it all, lol.Mary needs help,seems like she can't manage her emotions pretty well.Life isn't all about winning so learn to accept defeat (hey,you landed on top 8 which was fairly a good fight, i won't call it a defeat) and move on.You being her friend, try to keep an open mind on her and stretch your patience some more. Good luck on your next competitions coz I'm sure there'll be more to come.=)

She definitely needs some emotional training. These are her own issues with herself and have nothing to do with the team.

You guys did a fantastic job, placing in the top 8. Be proud. You don't need negative people draining you of your energy.

Venting feels good sometimes and it's important to not let things simmer inside.

Everybody needs a place to vent! I'm sorry you all had to deal with this...I can only imagine how frustrating it is. I'm not sure what her culture (which is MY culture too, born and bred) has to do with it, but it doesn't sound like a very good justification for her behavior.

Ummmm, is she seven? I really hate how people use FB and blogs and Twitter as a passive-aggressive weapon. Not your post here, but really. I broke up with a friend of 8 years after she made some PA jab on her blog. It was the last straw in a long line of problems.

Geesh this girl sounds like she is a few fries short of a happy meal. How childish is it to start trouble like that on facebook. It's a shame she has to act the way she does. I too think you handled yourself well.
