I hate shopping

Sorry for the lack of posting. My days in Indiana are getting short and I will soon be heading home next week. Anyway back to the scheduled post:

Normally I save my shopping for off hours, where I’ll only have to deal with a bare minimum of morons. Not so today, oh no! I had officially run out of food, and although I hated to admit it, I needed to go to Walmart so I wouldn’t starve. To make matters worse, I hate shopping. Or rather, I hate when other people are shopping at the same time I am. While shopping at Walmart, after pushing and shoving and cursing my way over to the groceries, I was pleased to see that the shelves were almost wiped clean. Great! Gotta love Walmart!

I quickly gave up on the idea of looking at other things, and got into one of the mammoth lines. I stood in the back of the line. I looked at my watch. I continued to stand in the back of the line. The line did not move. The line continued to not move. I soon realized what was holding the line up. It’s the #1 thing that irks me while I’m shopping. There are dozens of people who would love to check out and go home; but it seems every once and a while someone has the bright idea to conversate with the cashier. Why? WHY?

I stood in that line for 30 minutes, afraid to lose my spot. If I had known it was going to take me 30 minutes to check out, I seriously would have contemplated ordering Papa Johns for the rest of the week. Once I got done paying for my groceries, I had to go past Ruth. Ruth is the receipt checker, she is located at every Walmart. If there is anything in your cart outside of a bag Ruth NEEDS to see your receipt. This makes for another long line to exit the store. It baffles me that people wait in line to LEAVE Walmart. So I personally gave little, mean, old Ruth heart palpitations: I walked right out.

As I said. I hate shopping. But I digress.

  • that picture looked stressful!! I would make anyone not like shopping again!

Ugh, what a mess. I've been known to hit up the local walmart at 2 am especially during the holidays to avoid just that. Then again I can simply cause I'm still on a college student's schedule lol. I wonder what'll happen after I graduate.
  • I can't stand Walmart and I too hate lines. One of our local grocery stores allows you to scan and bag as you shop. It really cuts down on lines.

    LOL!! seriously....LOL!
  • lol. Wal-mart is the worst when it comes to that stuff. I haven't shopped at one in years, I forgot how annoying it can be when it's busy. The best time to shop is super late, when not many people are around. Hooray 24 hour grocery stores. :D
  • I can do the shopping for you :)

haha but not the long lines oh we both agree on that i hate long lines

I've had the pleasure of being in Walmart only twice in my life, but this long line you speak of is UNIVERSAL at every major store I go to. Drives me nuts. Now, yes, I am guilty of chatting up the checkout person, but... I like service with a smile.
  • Oh, the joys of Wal-Mart.

I really hate the receipt checking. Makes me feel like the company thinks their customers are theives.
  • I'm with you on the shopping. I think there are not many of us out there but I'm glad to know I'm not the only one.
  • Over 30 minutes? Holy crap! I've never seen it get that bad before. Next time, just starve. lol
  • Sheesh! That sounds like torture. There are Walmarts around Toronto, but I don't believe I've ever shopped in one. I'll definitely avoid them from now on.
  • i completely understand. what really irks me is when people take a cart to the 10 things or less ailse and the cashier does nothing about it!
  • I hear ya. Walmart can be a mess and I too always walk right past "Ruth"! Thanks for the follow and the button grab, you rock!

  • Awww, Walmart. When I am in Europe, I miss a lot of things from home, but I can honestly say that Walmart has never, ever been one of those things. I hate that place!
  • haha i didn't know that about walmart. i never shop there! what a zoo.
  • Haha! Poor Ruth... did she let you get away with it? ;-)
  • Ouch. That doesn't sound fun. I'm the same way as you - I can't stand shopping in crowded places. I always go when the parking lots are empty. I'm sorry you had a bad experience.

Well, I hate grocery shopping. All the carts and little kids running around. Ugh... I try to go first thing in the morning when everyone else is at work. =)

Yeah, Walmart has become a battleground or something lately.
We were witness to an old man's injury when someone ran into him when he was trying to cross in front of the store. And one time I was walking into an aisle, and this chick with a cart was going to run me over, and I sidestepped, and she said something really really bitchy to me, but I forgot what it was now....anyway, I was proud of myself when gave her the same attitude back. :D

Papa Johns for a week doesn't sound bad lol
  • hahaha I'm glad you were able to give her attitude too!

The old man reminds me of the guy who died this past Black Friday due to people stampeding into Wal-Mart to get slightly reduced prices. Flat screens aren't that serious!

    I completely agree!

I don't mind shopping, but Wal-Mart is hell to go into.

My mom works there, and she comes home every work night 30 minutes later than scheduled and worn to the bone. They are completely under staffed. And are jammed pack at odd hours.

How in the world do you end up in a 20 minute line at 3am?

I just avoid going, but...they are cheap =D
  • I guess this is where I should be thankful that in Singapore, shopping centres/grocery marts are always just around the corner, or like a minute's walk from wherever I am. Always. I'd love to check out the much talked-about WalMart one day, though :)
  • Shopping at walmart seriously stresses me out.. I used to grocery shop there and eventually I realized it wasn't worth it. Sorry to hear you had to deal with it!
  • oh, i am so sorry for that experience, i don't hate shopping, but i don't like nor love shopping either, i do it when i only have to, and i know, i have to sometimes. however, i would hate shopping terribly if the experience is like that. i hate long lines, can't stand it, i would walk out :(
