$300 for a 6 month premium is a great deal, but I understand your situation. You can try to lower the price but adjusting the premium amounts. Sometimes if you take a defensive drivers course, you can get a 5% discount. See if they have any other discounts like good student or AAA. If that doesn't help to trim the fat, maybe you can do chores and errands for your parents for payment. Maybe even try some surveys that pay cash. Try some of the money making ideas on my blog.

Yeah, I think I'm going to try to work it out and scrape together $300 somehow. Even if it means selling cupcakes and brownies lol.

Finding a job would be ideal. But since my school is in a very small town there aren't very many jobs. There's only one McDonalds within a 40 mile radius and 0 retail stores.

I definitely think that after coming all this way you should try to find a way to make it work. Maybe there is something you can do even if it's not a job you'd want? Work in a retail store? Even in McDonalds you should be able to make way more than $50 in a month, right? I think it's worth it to have your car and be able to drive places and enjoy yourself, especially after all you've been through! Don't take the easy way out, hun! I know you can make it work.

I don't think you should sell your car. That would definitely be defeating the purpose. Perhaps there are some cheaper rates out there. Try that or either continue to use whatever means of transportation you've been utilizing until you're able to come up with the money. BTW…you are as cute as a button….very photogenic!!!

I would try to look into jobs anyway. It sounds nearly impossible but you may never know. It'd be a shame to sell your car.

Well, I am in a similar boat. I am totally broke. Jobs are hard to come by these days, too. I do random things online for money, though. None of which include taking of clothes, haha. If you want to hear more about it, let me know and I can tell you what I do and send you some links. It's somewhat time consuming and the pay is minimal, but sometimes every little bit helps.

if you look at it broken down, $50.00/mo. is CHEAP for car insurance. I don't know if you'll find it lower than that….so, getting rid of that particular car may be the way you have to go, if a job isn't in the cards right now. ugh! dilemma
