It might not be hell, but you can see it from here.

On a whim I’ve decided to compact four years worth of college into three.  Meaning I should be graduating this year (provided that I don’t fail any classes). My #1 reason for doing this is because I absolutely hate my school.  I know college years are suppose to be the best years of your life, and frankly, this isn’t the best years of my life.  But in order to avoid being sued by my own institution I won’t begin to list the 242934 reasons why my school is probably one of the worst ever.  But it is. Seriously.

This semester will probably be super duper crazy.  I’ll be taking a grand total of 8 classes, and will attempt to get into graduate school while maintaining grades good enough to maintain my scholarship.

This means this year will be the craziest school year ever. But as a reward I will be able to escape this hellhole place of higher learning.

If you hate your school that much, go somewhere else. There are soooooooooooooo many options. My daughter took extra classes through her undergrad time, not to get out earlier but because she loved it so much she wanted to jam lots in She graduated with a double major and a minor.

It doesn't make sense to stay where you don't' like it. It's also not good academically to get your graduate degree from the same institution you got your undergraduate degree from.

There are many disciplines that really look down on your doing that. Your Masters should be a different mind set.

Why are you even thinking about staying?
  • Thanks for the info and congragulations on your daughters success. I have thought about transfering to another institution, but the price tag is really what is keeping me here. No other institution i have applied is willing t let me attend for free-99. There's something about saving $80000
worth of student loans that makes this school worthwhile. i would surely transfer if i could find another school that is also willing to pay my room, board, tuition, laptop, books, school supplies, etc. But i seriously doubt it, so ive chosen to make the best of the opportunity i have been given

This sounds brutal. best of luck.
  • That is very intense. College years were not the best years of my life, so don't worry about missing out.
  • Urghhh I hate school. Lucky you, you must be so smart to make 4 years into 3 :)
  • aww sorry to hear about that it must've sucked but Good luck in school. God Bless you!!
  • Good luck!!! I've managed to turn my four years of college into...um...well, by the time I finish, probably six or seven, on and off, part time and full-time. It's been a journey, ha!
  • Good Luck to you taking on all those classes! I am sure you will do well.
  • hmm you could always transfer? thats what i did..
  • I plan on doing three years instead of four when I start school as well. I just want to be active and do everything as quickly as possible. It sucks that you don't like your school. Good luck this semester!
  • Ugh, I had a crazy semester like that too. However, I also received my best GPA, because I actually had to organize my time and study {gasp!} in advance. Too bad I discovered all of this my last semester...

When I was in school, all I wanted was to be done. While I never really miss my university, I do miss a lot of the people. Good luck starting your final year!

    Good luck!! : )
  • I know a couple people who have done that for different reasons. Good luck with it! It will be very stressful, but I know you will be able to do it.
  • Impressive & admireable. GOOD LUCK!
  • i am glad despite it is hell, you were able to persevere and soon, you will be enjoying the fruits of your hard work.
  • Keep your eye on the prize and when it gets really really crazy know that the course you've chosen is a means to an end....now GO study!!!
  • Good luck!
