Confessions of an Addict Part II

As you may or may not know, I have a serious addiction.

And I’m guessing this place, called school finds a kick out of not supplying me with my #1 addiction.

The. Internet.

Why a school doesn’t  have internet access for its students beats me but for now I’ll provide some links to a few great reads until my school decides to GET WITH IT AND PROVIDE A MEANS BY WHICH FOR ME TO LOOK FOR GRADUATE SCHOOLS, PAY MY BILLS, CHECK MY BANK BALANCE, READ IMPORTANT EMAILS, DO HOMEWORK FOR CLASSES THAT HAVE AN ONLINE COMPONENT, ETC. ETC.

Dooce.com if you don’t know who she is by now you should. She’s probably THE most influencial blogger in the online world.  She is one of few mommy bloggers I can actually stand to read.

Collegecandy.com I come here to read about things relating to people my age. It has everything from sex to how to prepare a full course meal in the microwave.

Postsecret.blogspot.com a place to read other people’s secrets.  It has a wide range of secrets from hilarious to down right depressing. Always a good read.

Edited to add: Who said my blog wasn’t influential? I now have internet. Yes I am aware that it might just be a coincidence, but let me bask  in this moment of glory. WHOOHOO!! *knock on wood*

Lol, Tellie you're not the only one. Is being online for more than 8 hours considered an addiction? :)

I'm still figuring out new blogs to read so the Postsecret blog was a great one. I'm off to check out the other ones too. I want to check out the book to while I'm at it.

As for the addiction, I gonna assume that it's the norm for our generation and remain guilt free lol.
  • Lol I know what you mean about an internet addiction! I might have to go and check out college candy now! :)

I need to stop with the internet addiction...also LOVE collegecandy and will have to check out that blog though I try to steer clear of mommy/wife blogs.

I actuallly don't like Dooce. I check in with her sometimes, but I don't think she's a superb blogger.

LOVE PostSecret. I had a chance to see Frank Warren on his tour and it was amazing.
  • How can a school not have internet access? That's preposterous!
  • I love Postsecret! I got to go to one of the lectures last year and got my book signed, which was really cool. One of the guys there shared a story about his friends getting him a postsecret book, and then all of them writing their secrets into the book as well as a gift. It was such a fun experience :)
  • i LOVE post secret.

dooce sucks though. read why here. this was written by a good friend of mine. http://jennnster.blogspot.com/...

i'm so addicted to the net as well!
  • hmm I read the thing on dooce and I am not surprised at all... And I still think she is a terrific blogger. The situation your friend had with her seems highly personal so I cant judge on either account. All I have to say is... Dooce doesn't come off as an extremly nice person, it doesnt take rocket science to figure that one out. To expect someone to be nice while writing in the style she does seems a little outlandish. Maybe it's because I dont care people think about me, especially those that DO NOT KNOW ME IRL, an email like that wouldnt hurt my feelings at all. I think the problem stems idolizing and idealizing a blogger more than anything else.

p.s. comment submitted via cell phoneiin finance class :)
