Taking life into your own hands

So, I’m not a mom, I have no kids, and I’m still in college. So my favorite photo is probably atypical of the others but I’d still like to share.
This photo was taken when I went to Florida. It was for a very special occasion, special enough that Michelle Obama was suppose to be out guest speaker, but she had to cancel at the last minute. So instead Jurnee Smollet was our guest speaker. You know, Michelle’s friend Denise off of Full House? She also plays a central role in the recent movies The Great Debators.
Well, one of my friends wanted a picture with her really badly and couldn’t find anyone to take his picture with her. So he “took life into his own hands” and used his cellphone. She thought it was pretty funny.
Of course she loved his tenacity so much she decided to stick around and hang out with us for a couple hours after the ceremony/dinner.

Not Me Monday! | Hide and Seek is So Not Fun Anymore

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.
This is not the first time I have participated in a Not me Monday. Okay, it is. So what? I lied.
For an attention-challenged person like me, life is not a never-ending game of hide-and-seek.
I did not wake up the day after the fourth of July to discover my wallet was MIA (missing in action). I have not still been searching for my wallet over 24 hours later. And I have not come to the conclusion that my wallet is officially lost because that would just be too wonderful. I have not placed a block on my debit cards either because I know I will find that stupid wallet wherever it may be.Nope, not me!
I keep up with everything and am a very organized person. So organized in fact that I did not wake up this morning to discover my phone was hiding. And I did not find it in the fridge. After not finding my phone in the fridge I did not decide to empty the fridge out in search of my wallet I did not lose. What kind of person loses things in the fridge?
And I would like to note that I did not type this while eating a bowl of cereal, and I did not spill said cereal into my lap because I never eat while I’m on the computer! Nope not me!
MckLinky! (I can’t come up with a catchy title so this will have to do for now)

I’ve decided to participate in the first blog hop using mcklinky. Not sure if I’ll keep this up because I’m not much of a meme fan. I wonder if I’m the only non-parent involved in this? Anywhooo, I’m suppose to introduce my blog. So welcome!
My blog is entitled Intelligence Is A Curse, because like everything in life intelligence is a double edged sword: it is both a blessing and a curse. I know to some the title sounds somewhat conceited, but I in no way flaunt my intelligence. There is no reason for me to hold my head up high and look down on people when I could just as easily been born below average. I have never thought highly of myself for this very reason. I talk more about this here.
I could go on and bore you with all the events in my life that have made my intelligence a “curse” but I’ll save that for future blog posts…maybe.
Anyway, enough about that. I’m a 20-something year old college student who is a self taught pianist and has a passion for music. I also enjoy a lot more hobbies than the daily recommended allowance. I’ve lived most of my life as an expatriate until recently when I came back to the US to attend college. I hate nuts. My favorite brand of toothpaste is crest. I am addicted to mango juice.

Thank you and have a great day.
