Piano Update

So, I’d like to use part of this blog to keep track of my progress piano wise. Right now i am seriously working on 4 songs. I have posted a clip to 3 out of the 4. I have worked my way through 1/3rd of each son in about a week. There are a lot of wrong notes and other mistakes, but like I said it’s about progression. Also I tried to play each song up to tempo in the following videos rather than play slowly (which is how I practice usually).

Song No. 1 – Chopin Etude Op. 10 No. 6

Song #2 – Mendelssohn Prelude in E minor Op. 35 No. 1 (I played 1/3rd of the song twice in this video)

Song #3 – Schubert Impromptu Op. 90 No. 3

Note that my electric keyboard is a piece of crap. Some keys are stuck, others clunk, it decides when it wants to shut off which ranges from every 2 seconds to 10 minutes. It’s annoying as hell. After a new couch, this will be on the top of my priority lists of things to buy once I start getting paid in Columbus.

Jackson’s death almost takes the internet with him

How many people does it take to break the Internet? one — if that one is Michael Jackson. Micheal Jackson’s untimely passing has been causing some whale-sized problems for a lot of websites.

Unsurprisingly, Twitter struggled as thousands of tweets came in about the devastating news. Reports of fail whales were high. While I didn’t get any fail whales, the tweets to my phone were delayed by hours. I finally texted “off” and then “on” at around 4pm and sometime between 2am and 8am the tweets went through and my cellphone was back in sync.

The site that first confirmed his death, TMZ, was down several times throughout the last 24 hours. Even google was struggling to keep up with the huge surge of searches in relation to Michael’s death, and yes I am partially responsible. I googled it. So what? I have no TV. Popular blog sites, such as Perez Hilton’s, experienced problems as well.

The CNN website, which also is my source of this information, faired well during the ordeal. Probably because they were the last to confirm his death, and they had many of their facts out of whack. Initially CNN reported that Jackson was alive but in a coma, only to affirm his death several hours after TMZ.

For a guy who had so many fans, Michael only told a select few people that he was very lonely despite being a global icon. Whether or not his criminal allegations were true, it seems many wanted to bring him down for his money and for their fifteen minutes of fame, and not just be a true friend. This is probably why he had a connection with kids who just enjoyed life and didn’t worry about fame and fortune. As much as he was liked, it’s sad to see that no one really loved him as much as he loved others.

RIP MJ.

From Metal to Classical

As I’ve said before I have very eclectic taste. Right now I’m exploring metal more and more. I have fallen in love with this metal band Stratovarius.

I find this to be one of the most beautiful songs I have come across in a while. I especially love the interlude that occurs around 2:46. The song literally goes from metal to classical!

Winter Wind 3 Month progress!

I’ve been working on this song for 3 months now. I forgot the sheet music that day so I did it all from memory, not half bad (except for the part where i say “crap I forgot” or something along those lines). I can’t wait until I can play this song up to tempo!!

Well he is my favorite composer.

Moritz (Maurice) Moszkowski (23 August 1854 – 4 March 1925) was a German Jewish composer, pianist, and teacher of Polish descent. Ignacy Paderewski said, “After Chopin, Moszkowski best understands how to write for the piano”. Although little known today, Moszkowski was well-respected and popular during the late nineteenth century
